Adult Faith Exploration

The First Church of  Lombard Mission Statement promises “quality

Christian Education experiences for everyone,” all along life’s journey!

Believing that Faith Exploration is a lifelong pursuit, we are dedicated to

providing ongoing faith exploration opportunities that emphasize our

church’s core values as a progressive Christian congregation.

Sunday Mornings

All are invited to gather Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. for open, honest  dialogue on some of the big questions of life and faith.  Each week, a different participant presents a new idea based around a common theme or question, sparking a new conversation each week.  These discussions are available both in-person and via Zoom and provide the perfect way to connect with others and start your week off by growing together!

Wednesday Evenings

In order to provide a wide array of opportunities to learn more about our world, First Church organizes several high-quality, short-term studies throughout the year.  Generally held Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m., recent programs include a series on Gender Identity, an in-depth study of antiracism, several Bible studies doing a “deeper dive” into Sunday’s Scripture lessons, an exploration of hip hop, a look at technology in the church, and a one-of-a-kind overview of the Bible.  Each study is open to all, any week, and is always available via Zoom.

Ecumenical Lent and Advent Studies

Several times a year, First Church gathers with members of several churches here in Lombard to take a larger look at topics of faith.  These multi-denomination studies are traditionally held at Lent and Advent.
